Youth Athletics

The Youth sports staff plans and implements low-cost recreation programs and activities designed to be especially interesting and challenging to those under 18 years of age.

It is our mission to teach the basic skills, which young people need to play sports in a safe, enjoyable and nurturing environment, where all children get an equal chance to play regardless of skill level.

Staff manages youth sports programs to promote fair and safe play through organized sports activities. In Youth Sports the intention is to instruct basic skills, provide leagues and places to play competitively for ages 5 – 14.  Our sports focus on recreation, physical development, socialization, fun and sportsmanship, basic skill development, plus respect for teammates, coaches, parents, officials and spectators.

The staff’s training through the National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) is the key for making informed choices and setting high standards for youth sports. All coaches MUST be certified and sign a Code of Ethics form. Our staff can certify coaches in most sports.

If your organization needs assistance, contact Youth Sports Coordinator at 478-751-7633. Volunteer coaches and officials are well trained in their roles and responsibilities and provide children a safe, enjoyable recreation opportunity. The Youth Sports Program provides opportunities for college students and adults to participate as coaches, instructors, and scorekeepers for youth sports.

We promise to provide youth the opportunity:
  • For a fun, safe, positive environment in which to participate.
  • To participate under the supervision of positive role models
that will help focus on developing skills, teamwork, sportsmanship and how to win and lose graciously.
  • For all participants to play regardless of skill or ability.
  • To build self-confidence and self-esteem while respecting oneself
    and others.
  • To make new friends.

To continue to improve and enhance the quality of your youth sports experience.
